I got invited to spend a weekend in Gavião in the north of Alentejo, Portugal. It was a change to witness some traditional wine grapes harvest, taste local cuisine and drinks and enjoy the countryside.
We got to Gavião late in the evening. The harvest had started that day and by the time we got to the vineyard on the following morning the harvest was more than halfway done. There was still time to take out my camera and get a few shots of the workers hand-picking grapes.

The grapes were put into boxes which the helpers then carried onto the back of a truck. When the truck was full the driver would take the grapes back to another property were they would be pressed and fermented into wine. Sometimes the workers would run out of boxes and they’d use this chance to take a small break and snack on bread, cheese and wine.
Afonso took the time to try out his drone as well and get some aerial shots of the harvest.
There was plenty of time to chill out during the rest of the weekend, enjoying the landscape and countryside with the company of friends.
